Leopards and snakes strike again Couture Trends, S/S 2019

Once again, leopards, snakes, cheetahs and tigers invade the catwalks! Their skin motifs have become classics in our wardrobe and are taking over the daywear at the office and in the street. Nowadays, women don’t need to be brave or daring to wear animal prints, they’re at ease with this additional spice note that brings elegance and sexiness to their allure.

Snake print in daywear was showcased by Blumarine’s collection, which brought together athleisure and chic, with the neon orange of spandex bicycle shorts and sports bra peeping through the opening of a python printed trench - or a silky trench dropped over python printed athleisure apparel.

Whilst presenting a more artsy look with collage prints, Antonio Marras’ outfits are still perfect for daywear.

Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini’s models show some skin with... snake skin! The two outfits bring a cool vibe with a python bomber jacket on mini-shorts or matching python sarouel-style pants and a ruffled crop top.

Calvin Klein updated Mrs. Robinson’s (from the movie The Graduate) iconic cocktail dress in a leopard purple print. It looked chic with its glittery brooch and flower pleats but “damaged” with its crushed and crumpled fabric.

For Burberry, Ricardo Tisci chose to design an eclectic collection for all types of people, a 90’s school girl style or a sophisticated lady in mix-and-match animal prints. We also saw eccentric looks like the one where the model is wearing a camel colored trench and a mini shirt-dress with the same print topped with a black lingerie corset.

Sensuality was at its peak with Saint Laurent’s floaty caftan or Ermanno Scervino’s green snake pleated muslin dress.
